# Therapy for First Responders in Cincinnati, OH

For officers, firefighters, medics and dispatchers working the city and the townships around it. Off duty, off the department network.

## The Calls That Stay

Most of the job clears on its own. You run it, you write it, you eat afterward, and it goes where the rest of it goes. Then there are the few that do not. Usually it is a particular child, a particular stairwell, a particular face at a window, or a coworker you could not get to in time.

What people notice at home is rarely dramatic. It is a short fuse over nothing, the radio traffic replaying while you are trying to fall asleep, a habit of sitting facing the door, and the sense that the person your family used to live with left somewhere around year eight.

## Outside the Chain of Command

The hesitation is almost never about whether therapy works. It is about where the information goes. Whether it reaches a supervisor, whether it surfaces at a promotional board, whether the peer support person is somebody you also see at shift change and at a cookout in June.

I am in private practice. I hold no contract with any Ohio or Kentucky department, union, city or employer program, and no one is sent a report about your care. Records stay with me. That separation is the reason a lot of responders in this region look outside the options handed to them at a briefing.

Cincinnati adds one practical detail. A lot of people on these rosters live across the river. Where you are sitting during the appointment is what governs, and Ohio and Kentucky both work.

## Fitted to Shift Work, Not to Office Hours

Everything is by secure video. There is no Cincinnati office and no in-person option, which means no drive in on a day off and no waiting room in a city where you have been on scene at half the addresses. Adults only, private pay.

Sessions run 60 minutes, or up to three hours as an intensive, which tends to fit a rotation better than a standing weekly slot ever will. You do not have to narrate a run in detail for the work to move.

This is not a crisis service.

If you are in crisis, please call or text 988, call 911, or go to your nearest emergency room. ART is not appropriate during active psychosis or acute crisis. Individual outcomes vary.

## Also in Cincinnati

Everything here is by secure video, so where you are in Cincinnati makes no difference to the work. These are the other things I am most often asked about locally.

## Fifteen minutes, nothing on paper.

Ask what you want about confidentiality first. Deciding comes after.

This practice is not a crisis or emergency service, and messages are not monitored around the clock. If you are in immediate danger, experiencing a mental health emergency, or having thoughts of ending your life with intent or a plan, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), call 911, or go to your nearest emergency room for an assessment. Veterans can press 1 after dialing 988.

Contacting this practice does not establish a client relationship. Individual outcomes vary. Nothing on this site guarantees a specific clinical result.
