# PTSD Treatment in Cincinnati, OH

For adults whose nervous system did not get the message that the event is over. Video only, Ohio and Kentucky.

## What Post-Traumatic Stress Looks Like Day to Day

Most people who reach out are not describing the version in a film. They describe sleep that breaks at the same hour, a startle response that embarrasses them in front of coworkers, an argument they had no intention of having, and a growing list of places, sounds and dates they route around without ever calling it avoidance.

Underneath it there is usually a memory that has not been filed. It does not feel like something that happened. It feels like something that is happening, in the present tense, with the same heart rate attached. That is the piece the work goes after.

## What Brings It On Here

Cincinnati clients bring a wide spread. Assaults and robberies. A medical event that went badly in a hospital bed. Being on the wrong side of a wreck on the Brent Spence or on I-75 in the rain. A death that arrived by phone call. Childhood material that nobody in the family ever named out loud.

Plenty of them work inside the region's hospitals and clinics, which adds a wrinkle: you know what the diagnosis is, you know roughly what treatment involves, and you have spent years being the person who is fine. Knowing the material does not make the memory quieter, and it often makes asking harder.

## How the Sessions Are Structured

We start by agreeing on one target rather than trying to address a whole history at once. Inside a session we work with eye movements while you hold the memory, bring the physical charge down, and then change what you see. We check where things stand before we close, so you are not left open at the end of an hour.

You will not be asked to give a detailed account out loud. Sixty minutes is standard and intensives of up to three hours are available. I do not predict how many sessions anyone will need, and I will say directly if I think a different level of care fits you better than telehealth does.

This is not a crisis service.

If you are in crisis, please call or text 988, call 911, or go to your nearest emergency room. ART is not appropriate during active psychosis or acute crisis. Individual outcomes vary.

Everything here is by secure video, so where you are in Cincinnati makes no difference to the work. These are the other things I am most often asked about locally.
