# Therapy for First Responders in Louisville, KY

For sworn officers, firefighters, medics and dispatchers working the Louisville metro. Off duty, off the department network, on your own schedule.

## Twenty Years of Runs in One City

A career in a metro this size means volume. Overdoses in the same three apartment complexes, a shooting on a Saturday night in the summer, the interstate wreck that closed a lane for four hours, and the pediatric call you can still describe by the wallpaper. Most of it you clear. A handful of runs get stored somewhere they keep being current.

What people describe is not usually the flashback from a movie. It is being short with your kid over nothing, drinking a little more on the back end of a stretch, the tones on a scanner app you never deleted spiking your chest in your own driveway, and sleep that never quite consolidates no matter how many days off you string together.

## Fitness for Duty and Who Finds Out

The reason people in this line of work wait is rarely denial. It is the file. It is whether a supervisor hears, whether it follows a promotional board, whether the peer support person you like is also somebody who sees you every shift. Louisville is big enough to have real resources and small enough that everyone in the same battalion or division knows each other family.

I am in private practice. I am not contracted with your department, your union, your city, or any employer program, and I do not report to anyone about your care. Records are mine, not theirs. That is the whole reason a lot of responders choose an outside clinician instead of the option handed to them at a briefing.

## Built Around a Shift Schedule

Everything is by secure video. There is no office in Louisville and no in-person option, which means no drive downtown on a day off and no sitting in a waiting room in a city where you have been on scene at half the addresses. You need to be physically in Kentucky or Ohio when we meet.

Sessions can run 60 minutes, or up to three hours as an intensive, which suits people working rotations far better than a fixed weekly slot. You do not have to narrate a run in detail for the work to move. Adults only, private pay.

This is not a crisis service.

If you are in crisis, please call or text 988, call 911, or go to your nearest emergency room. ART is not appropriate during active psychosis or acute crisis. Individual outcomes vary.

## Also in Louisville

Everything here is by secure video, so where you are in Louisville makes no difference to the work. These are the other things I am most often asked about locally.

## Fifteen minutes, off the record.

No intake packet to start. Ask what you want about confidentiality and about how the work runs, then decide.

This practice is not a crisis or emergency service, and messages are not monitored around the clock. If you are in immediate danger, experiencing a mental health emergency, or having thoughts of ending your life with intent or a plan, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), call 911, or go to your nearest emergency room for an assessment. Veterans can press 1 after dialing 988.

Contacting this practice does not establish a client relationship. Individual outcomes vary. Nothing on this site guarantees a specific clinical result.
