Phobia Treatment in Cincinnati, OH
For the one fear that has quietly rewritten your calendar. Adults, by secure video.
The Ones People Bring
Flying, which in this city usually means a connection out of CVG that somebody has been declining for six years. Needles and blood draws, which turns routine lab work into a postponed appointment. Bridges, which is a genuine problem in a river city where a bridge is not optional. Elevators, in a downtown full of them. Dogs. Heights. Vomiting, which is more common than almost anyone admits and shapes eating, travel and parenting.
The fear itself is rarely the whole burden. The burden is the arranging. The longer route, the excuse made in advance, the meeting you sent someone else to, the hour of dread the night before. Most people can tell me exactly what their life would look like if this one thing were not in it.
Why a Phobia Is Often Quick Work
A specific phobia usually has a clear shape. There is one feared object or situation and, very often, one early image sitting underneath it: a dog at eye level when you were four, a bad draw in an emergency room, a moment on a span in heavy traffic.
ART works on that image directly, taking the body reaction down with eye movements and then letting you change what you see. Because the target is narrow, phobia work is often among the more contained things I do. That is a general pattern and not a prediction about you, and I do not promise a number of sessions.
There is no exposure homework. Nobody is asked to hold a syringe, stand on a parking garage roof or book a flight to prove something.
No Office, and That Suits This Work
This is a telehealth practice with no Cincinnati office, which removes the small irony of driving over a bridge or riding an elevator to get to an appointment about bridges and elevators. Adults only, private pay, and you must be physically in Ohio or Kentucky at session time.
This is not a crisis service.
If you are in crisis, please call or text 988, call 911, or go to your nearest emergency room. ART is not appropriate during active psychosis or acute crisis. Individual outcomes vary.
