What Distance Costs in Kentucky

Kentucky is a rural state with a few dense corners. If you live in Jefferson or Fayette County there are clinicians, though the ones trained in a specific trauma protocol are a much shorter list. If you live in eastern Kentucky, the Purchase, or anywhere along the Bluegrass Parkway between towns, specialist care has usually meant a drive, a half day of leave, and the fuel to get there.

There is a second cost people mention more quietly. In a small county, the parking lot is public information. Being seen walking into a counseling office in a town where you also coach, deputize, teach Sunday school or run a business is not a small thing, and it stops people from going.

Secure video removes both. You sit in your own house, or in your truck in the driveway, and nobody logs your arrival.

Who Reaches Out From Kentucky

A mix that reflects the state: deputies and volunteer firefighters in counties where the same handful of people answer every call, hospital and EMS staff around Louisville and Lexington, people who work in transport and logistics along the interstates, and adults carrying one specific event from years back that the local options never touched.

Phobia work comes up often, and driving is a large part of it, because in most of Kentucky there is no version of your life that does not involve the car. So doesmedical fear, when the nearest hospital is far enough that postponing a scan is easy to justify for another year.

The Practical Details for Kentucky Clients

I am licensed as a clinical social worker in Kentucky, so I can see you wherever you are in the state as long as you are physically in Kentucky at the time of the session. That last part is a licensing rule, and it applies even if you usually live here and happen to be out of state that week.

Sessions are 60 minutes by secure video, or up to three hours as an ART intensive. You need a private spot and a device that stays still, since the work uses eye movements. Rural connection quality varies and we plan for that in advance rather than improvising mid-session.

What This Is Not, and When It Is Not the Fit

• Not an in-person practice. I have no office in Louisville, Lexington or anywhere else in Kentucky.
• Not available while you are physically outside Kentucky or Ohio, including on vacation or a work trip.
• Not a community mental health agency and not able to provide case management or emergency response.
