ART Therapy in Louisville, KY
Accelerated Resolution Therapy for adults in Jefferson County and the surrounding metro, by secure video. No office, no parking garage, no waiting room.
What Happens in an ART Session
ART is a directive, eye movement based protocol. You look at a specific memory or image, and while you hold it, you follow a set of smooth horizontal eye movements. The body settles first. Heart rate, jaw, the tightness across the chest. Then we work with the picture itself, and you replace it with something you choose. The facts of what happened stay exactly as they are. What changes is how the image lands when it comes up.
You are not required to narrate the event out loud. That surprises people who have tried talk therapy in Louisville and stopped because the retelling cost more than they got back. In ART you can work on something largely in your own head while I track where you are and keep the pace steady.
Sessions run 60 minutes, or up to three hours as an intensive when the schedule makes weekly appointments unrealistic. The work is focused rather than open ended. We name a target, we work on that target, and we check what shifted before we decide anything about the next appointment.
Why Louisville Adults Ask About It
Louisville runs on shift work. Hospital floors downtown and on the east end, the overnight air hub that keeps a good part of the city awake between eleven and four, distribution and plant work out by the Watterson. People who work those hours are not in a position to hold the same Tuesday at two o clock for a year, and a lot of them have quietly written off therapy because of scheduling alone.
The other reason is privacy. Louisville is a large city that behaves like a small one once you have worked somewhere for a decade. People bump into their supervisor at the grocery on Bardstown Road. A session that happens on a laptop in your own house, between shifts, removes a set of calculations that were keeping people out of care.
Telehealth Only, and What You Need
I have no office in Louisville and no in-person appointments anywhere. Every session is by secure video, and you need to be physically located in Kentucky or Ohio at the time we meet, because that is where I am licensed.
Practically, that means a private room, a door, and a device that stays still, since the work uses eye movements and a handheld phone will not do it. Headphones help. Adults only. Private pay only.
This is not a crisis service.
If you are in crisis, please call or text 988, call 911, or go to your nearest emergency room. ART is not appropriate during active psychosis or acute crisis. Individual outcomes vary.
Also in Louisville
Everything here is by secure video, so where you are in Louisville makes no difference to the work. These are the other things I am most often asked about locally.
Fifteen free minutes to ask about ART.
Tell me what you are carrying and what your week looks like, and I will tell you how the method would apply to it.
