Small Departments, Familiar Names
Outside the city line, response is personal in a way metro work usually is not. You run a car into a tree on a two-lane at midnight and you recognize the vehicle before you are out of the truck. You work a cardiac arrest on somebody who taught your children. On a volunteer department you may be the person who then sees the widow at church that Sunday.
Inside Lexington the volume is higher and the anonymity only slightly better. Campus calls, a large hospital as the receiving end of everything serious in the region, interstate wrecks that come in fast. Either way, the runs that stick are rarely the ones an outsider would predict.
Why People Look Outside Their Own County
In a smaller community, the local counselor may be somebody you transported, or their spouse works dispatch, or their office is on the square where your truck is parked. That is not paranoia, it is arithmetic, and it is why many responders here look for a clinician who is not local.
I am independent. Not contracted to a department, a fiscal court, a union or an employer program, and I do not send reports to anyone. Nothing about your care touches a personnel file.
How Sessions Are Set Up
Video only. There is no office in Lexington and no in-person appointments at all, which for people who live an hour out means the appointment costs an hour, not a day. You need to be physically in Kentucky or Ohio when we meet.
Some people take a standard hour. Others use longer intensive blocks because their rotation makes a weekly time impossible. You are not required to walk through a run in detail. Adults only, private pay.
This is not a crisis service.
