PTSD Treatment in Northern Kentucky

For adults in the river counties whose symptoms have outlasted the event by years, or by a few very long months.

Functioning and Not Fine

A lot of people here are holding a full-time job, a commute and a family while carrying post-traumatic stress that nobody at work has noticed. Performance reviews are good. Attendance is good. Meanwhile you are sleeping four hours, you cannot watch certain scenes on television, and you have an entire route memorized to avoid one stretch of road.

The symptoms tend to arrive in a bundle: images that appear without being invited, nights that end at three, irritability that lands on the people who deserve it least, and a numbness that makes ordinary good things feel like they are happening behind glass. Some people also carry the extra layer of shame about how long it has been going on.

Time alone does not file the memory correctly. Twenty years of managing around something is evidence of stamina, not of resolution.

Targeted Work, Not a Life Review

We choose one memory to work on and stay with it. Eye movement sets are used while you hold the image, first to bring down the physical reaction, then to work on the picture itself, which you can replace with one you select. The history is not edited. The intrusion is.

Since detailed narration is not required, you are not spending the appointment recounting the worst thing that happened to you to a person you just met. For people whose weeks have no slack in them, that matters as much as the method does.

I will not predict a timeline. We look at what has actually changed, session by session, and you decide whether to continue.

Video Only, Kentucky or Ohio

I keep no office in Northern Kentucky and offer no in-person sessions. Everything is secure video. Because I am licensed in all three states, it does not matter whether you are at home in Kenton County or at work across the river, as long as you are physically in Kentucky or Ohio during the hour.

Adults only, private pay only. You will need somewhere genuinely private, not a shared office with a glass wall.

This is not a crisis service.

If you are in crisis, please call or text 988, call 911, or go to your nearest emergency room. ART is not appropriate during active psychosis or acute crisis. Individual outcomes vary.

Also in Northern Kentucky

Everything here is by secure video, so where you are in Northern Kentucky makes no difference to the work. These are the other things I am most often asked about locally.
