Phobia Treatment in Columbus, OH

For adults who have organized around one fear long enough that the arrangements feel normal.

When It Starts Costing You Something

A fear becomes worth treating when it starts making decisions for you. The job with quarterly travel that you did not apply for. The dental work put off for four years. The interstate merge you will not do, so every trip takes surface streets and twenty extra minutes. The conference in another state that you attended remotely again.

People are often more embarrassed than distressed by the time they call. A capable adult with a graduate degree and a mortgage does not expect to be undone by a needle or a small dog. Embarrassment is not a clinical fact about you. It is just what happens when a body-level reaction outlasts the reasoning that should have retired it.

Why the Target Is Narrow

Specific phobias tend to have a single feared thing and often a single early image underneath: a bad blood draw, a dog when you were small, turbulence over the Rockies, a lock-up on ice. Because there is one clear target, the work is contained rather than open-ended.

We take the physical reaction down with sets of eye movements while you hold the image, then you change what you see. There is no exposure homework, no fear ladder to climb between sessions, and no requirement to prove anything by booking a flight. I will not tell you in advance how many sessions it will take.

No Office in Columbus

This is a telehealth practice. There is nowhere to drive, park or sit and wait. Adults only, private pay, and you need to be physically in Ohio or Kentucky during the session, in a private space with a device that stays still.

This is not a crisis service.

If you are in crisis, please call or text 988, call 911, or go to your nearest emergency room. ART is not appropriate during active psychosis or acute crisis. Individual outcomes vary.
